The Coalition of Unemployed Graduates of Nurse Assistant Clinical and Preventive has threatened to force themselves at Jubilee House and other government offices should the Ministry of Health renege on its promises to post them.
The group says they have been home for the past 3 years since completion of school in 2019.
“It has been 10 months since the Ministry of Health opened their recruitment portal for all cadre of nurses and midwives in Ghana to choose their preferred region and agencies to be posted to. Both degree and diploma nurse have since been posted but we the certificate nurses (community nurses) have been left out without any explanation. Several attempt to seek explanation has not been fruitful”, Apandago Charles, President of the group noted.
The unemployed nurses claimed they are gradually de-learning the knowledge and skills acquired in school since they’re not practicing.
“We find it difficult to under why we are been treated with discrimination because in the history of the recruitment process, no cadre has been financially cleared to access the portal and left home for 10 months without being posted.
“We are giving a one-week ultimatum to all Ministries responsible for the delay in our posting (ministry of finance and ministry of health) to do the needful else we will be left with no option than to storm their offices and share it with them”.
