Mahama tells Alan and Afriyie Akoto: "It's too late to resign; you're a contributor to the mess."

Former President of Ghana-John Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, a former president of Ghana, called the resignation of some ministers in the Akufo-Addo administration "pointless."

It must be a relief for those abandoning the ship, Mr. Mahama wrote in a tweet on Friday, but it's too late for them because they contributed to the chaos that led to the nation's current economic catastrophe.

After resigning from their positions as ministers of trade and industry Alan Kyerematen and minister of food and agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto to focus on their presidential aspirations, the former president took to Twitter a few days later.

In a speech to the nation following his resignation from office, Mr. Kyerematen urged NPP delegates to choose him as the party's flagbearer during the party's upcoming primaries.
