The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) says the outcome of its planned payroll monitoring exercise would make a case for the review of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SPSS).
And remove Ghost Names from the System.
Unfortunately, CCT-GH President King Ali Awudu believes otherwise and says it’s a total waste of time and resources.
In an interview sighted by Kekeli News, the CCT_ GH President outlined reasons for his pronouncement.
According to the CCT-GH President
The union is not against Monitoring payroll as this may ensure workers get what they deserve,
However, what is done in Ghana, payroll monitoring is done all the time, and Repeatedly the same. Using Ghana Education service as an example he explained.

Who are they after? and what are they looking for?
In the School environment, teachers’ documents are taken almost every time for verification.
Documents like Payslip Copies, School Certificate Copies, Copies of Appointment letters,
Responsibility allowance letters, Promotional letters, upgrading letters; What do they use such documents for he asked.

The people they are looking for are not at the places they are targeting.
”Look for your Ghost names somewhere and Leave us in Peace to do our work”- He Said
According to King Ali, the commission should be able to track down illegal earners on the payroll system, if someone is taking what he/she doesn’t deserve it can easily be tracked down as every rank and responsibility in GES has a specific amount given and this can be monitored on the payroll system.
Fake certificates
On the issue of Fake certificates in the system, the Ghana Education Service – GES and other stakeholders can easily verify the certificates through the awarding institutions without any Problem, just by giving the institutions the Index number of the employee; rather than always asking employees to bring certificates repeatedly this can be done.
According to King Ali the Payroll monitoring exercise is a complete waste of time and resources as other state agencies will do the same in the coming months.
He believes the country is unable to keep data and hence their repeated monitoring exercise.
